Southview High School is no stranger to team state championships with a total of five OHSAA championships to their credit. Of those, four belong to the cross-country teams. The boys teams have three state championship trophies and three runner-ups, while the girls team can claim one golden trophy of their own. Just last Saturday, the state champion 1987 boy’s cross-country team was the first team to be inducted into the Sylvania Schools Athletic Hall of Fame. Fast forward thirty years and Southview will once again be represented at the State Championship at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio. This time Junior Brendan Hammer and Freshman Mackenzie Perry
will carry the Cougar flag. It’s been four years since a SV female qualified for States and the last time a Southview male qualified was in 2006. Good luck Brendan and Mackenzie. It’s safe to say that Southview cross-country is back on the map.
