Of the 1,100 works submitted for the FOCUS show, held at BGSU’s School of Fine Arts, only about 20% are selected. That gives some indication of the elite class of artists Alyssa Cravens and Brennen Otersen are in as award winners.
With many district superintendents and principals on hand to present awards. It was a dignified affair. Alyssa’s work Despondent was selected as the Superintendent’s Award winner. There to present the award was assistant superintendent Keith Limes. Alyssa worked under the guidance of Sarah Snead, and also another piece on display
Brennen Otersen earned the Principal’s Award for his three dimensional work entitled Liberating Box. The stunning sculpture seemed to be a standout even among the other quality submissions. Brennen’s teacher, Melinda Arrigo, gushed with pride as she toured the displays.
Congratulations to these talented artists!
